DownloadGraduating from The Gilman School for Boys (Baltimore, MD) in June of 2018, I entered Northwestern University's Weinberg School of Arts and Sciences in the Fall of 2018 pursuing a Bachelor of Arts of Political Science and another Bachelor of Arts of Russian Language. It was in my first quarter of college that I discovered a passion for coding, and switched my degree to a Bachelor of Science of Computer Science. Following the devastating COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, I decided to take a break from college to work full-time with LookThink, as online classes were not yet perfected and I felt it would be better to wait until the pandemic subsided or online classes were better utilized. After an almost two year break, I am excited to be currently attending the Northwestern School of Professional Studies with a Bachelor of Philosophy of Communication Systems.
During the summer of 2019 I worked as a paid full-stack intern with LookThink, a technology consulting firm in D.C. During my internship, I learned HTML, CSS, and Javascript, utilizing these languages to create dynamic and responsive websites, alongside popular CMS platforms like Webflow, Wordpress, and Drupal. Following this internship I joined the team as a contractor in the Fall of 2019, and served in that role until September 2020 when I joined the LookThink team full-time.
During this contracting period, I also founded a create-your-own bar crawl startup, Crawl. After designing a fully functioning mobile application utilizing React Native, Google Firebase, and the Webflow API and overseeing a staff of eight employees, my team and I were awarded $10,000 and a spot in the 2020 Northwestern Wildfire Cohort, run by The Northwestern Garage. The COVID-19 pandemic required us to pivot to focus more on bar safety; however, we ultimately decided to put Crawl on the shelf until a more appropriate time. Following September 2020, my role at LookThink became Junior Front-End Developer, and I began working on the client-side as well as the technical side, giving me invaluable experience working with clients, and translating their needs to the technical team and vise-versa. Part of my job also included ensuring websites were up to accessibility standards, and being able to test and fix common accessibility issues.
In March of 2021, I discovered an emerging social media blockchain solution called DeSo (Decentralized Social Blockchain), which I began using. I quickly rose to an influencer level on the social media platform, and began hosting a daily podcast to report on the emerging technology. I was then faced with a crossroads, as the workload of a full-time developer and a full-time podcast host was too much. I decided to take the risk, and go for the podcast. I put massive amounts of time into creating the best content for my viewers, and ran a successful daily podcast for two months, until finally, I had to accept defeat as my podcast was not leaving me with any profits. I worked as a server for a couple of months while I searched for jobs, and was finally approached by Ultimate Tournament to come on as their Director of Marketing. In my current role, I manage a team of over 30+ staffers for a Discord Community of over 10,000 users. We host monthly tournaments, events, contests, and giveaways, leaving me to manage thousands of dollars in ad spend and production costs a month. Being a startup, my role is much more than Director of Marketing, allowing me the opportunity to learn Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, MailChimp, HootSuite, Affiliate Programming, and much more.
